Student Lindsey Ranz killed while jogging

Junior Lindsey Ranz was hit by a pickup truck on Monday at 6:30 p.m. while crossing Septima P. Clark Parkway near Coming Street. The 21 year old was jogging when she ran into the path of a car in the westbound lane.

Ranz was an International Business major from Bluffton, S.C. She transferred to the College in 2013.

Ranz was taken to MUSC for medical treatment where she died at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. 

She is the second person to be fatally struck at the Crosstown in the past 14 months after Hannah-Rose Elledge from England was hit by a Jeep on Nov. 18 2012.

UPDATE: A memorial service for Ranz will be held on Friday, Jan. 17 at 11:00 a.m. The service will take place at Lowcountry Community Church, located at 801 Buckwalter Parkway, Bluffton, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to www.sevenly.org.
