Obama Administration’s final State Dinner

Obama Administration’s final State Dinner

Love them or hate them, the Obamas have style.

President Barack Obama’s time in the Oval Office is quickly and surely approaching the end. With only a few months left in office, an air of nostalgia lingers over every event and appearance of the first family. Oct. 18 was no exception, marking the fourteenth and final State Dinner of the Obama administration. In the tradition of honoring a foreign head of state, the event welcomed Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and his wife Agnese Landini to the White House with a high-end guest list and an extravagant meal prepared by Chef Mario Batali. The food and decor all aimed to honor our Italian allies. Gwen Stefani provided the evening entertainment with a performance following dinner.

Notable guests included Chance the Rapper, Frank Ocean, James Taylor and Jerry Seinfeld. Aside from the small pool of celebrity appearances, the guest list included the administration’s key staffers, many of whom usually work behind the scenes of these dinners, and political figures to round out the rest of the 282 VIPs.

First Lady Michelle Obama stunned in her last dinner as much as her first. She wore a rose gold chainmail gown designed by Italian designer Atelier Versace that inspired a swarm of awe on Twitter.

The evening left many feeling wistful, knowing that the Obamas’ time of state dinners is soon coming to an end.
