Over the weekend, the College of Charleston Women’s Soccer Team beat both Presbyterian and Charleston Southern to snap a three game losing streak. These two wins for the Cougars brought their record to 3-3.
On Friday’s matchup, the Cougars dismantled Presbyterian 3-0. Junior Laura Ortega was a big key to Charleston’s success-scoring two of the team’s goals.
Charleston dominated Presbyterian offensively-outshooting them 24-3 including shooting 15-2 on shots on goal.
In the second game of the weekend, Charleston beat crosstown rival Charleston Southern 2-0-in their third shutout of the year.
Sophomore Alyssa Beck was the standout player for the Cougars. Beck took two shots on goal-scoring one in the weekend victory.
The Cougars also outshot Charleston Southern 15-7.
Winning two games over the weekend is a big confidence boost for the Cougars and head coach Christian Michner and will benefit the Cougars in their next game.
The Cougars’ next game is on the road against the Miami Hurricanes.
