College of Charleston Sports Recap With Hurricane Irma

Over the last week, the Southeastern United States and neighboring countries have been affected by Hurricane Irma. Due to Hurricane Irma, some of the College of Charleston sports’ events have been canceled.

Women’s soccer matches at Miami (Sept. 8th)  and at Florida Atlantic (Sept. 10) were canceled, along with Men’s soccer match against UAB-which was scheduled to be played on Sept 12.

In addition, Men’s tennis and Women’s tennis both did not play. Men’s tennis withdrew from the Southern Intercollegiate at the University of Georgia and Women’s tennis elected to cancel its 17th Annual College of Charleston Invitational next weekend and it will not be rescheduled.

The Charleston Volleyball team played in the Kent State Invitational on Sept 9 through Sept 10.  The Cougars lost their first match to Kent State in straight sets and won their second match against Bulter in straight sets.

The College of Charleston will open classes and resume its normal schedule on Thursday.

On behalf of the Cisternyard Media Family, we hope that everyone was able to get home safely.
