Despite fighting bravely against inclement weather and the loss of their ace player, the College’s win streak came to an end after falling to Furman in Saturday’s men’s tennis match.
The Cougars took the doubles match in a tie-breaker set between Charleston’s Youssef Dabbabi and Ksawery Pociej and Furman’s Jake Munns and Ivan Mitric.
The College was without its ace, Juan Estevarena this weekend which threw off the rest of the lineup.
Ryan Khan came out of the gate strong against his opponent, Jake Munns with a 5-2 lead. However, Munns rallied and made a comeback, winning with scores of 7-5 and 6-0.
Pociej also played a strong game early on in his singles match against Ivan Mitric, but eventually fell with Mitric taking the match 6-2, 4-6, and 6-3.
Inclimate weather forced the rest of the day’s matches to move to the indoor facility where the Cougars were defeated with a final score of 6-1.
The Cougars return to Charleston for their home debut against SC State next Saturday.
