The value of a shake-up

Sometimes, you need something to shake you up. The Cougars got quite the shake-up when Jeremy Simmons injured his knee four games ago. Changing the dynamic can be as important as it is detrimental.

With the shake-up came a learning opportunity for the Cougars. The College had to adjust to life without Jeremy. And, while their adjustments didn't turn out perfect (they lost two on the road), the College learned something: they have a well rounded team that can step up.

And, there is no better example to demonstrate what they learned than tonight's win against Chattanooga.

Attribute the bench to Bobby's recruiting. Attribute it to the new Arena. Attribute it to anything. We have a team that is well rounded and ready to play.

Take Matt Sundberg. Last season, Matt averaged maybe three minutes a game. He's the most experienced of the bench. Tonight, he fired off five 3-point shots and had a career-high 17 points.

The freshman Willis Hall has stepped up big, too. This entire season, particularly when Simmons has been out, he has stepped up. Tonight, Hall was explosive, knocking in a few second chance baskets and putting up six points with five rebounds.

Rashad Wright and Andrew Lawrence have stepped up this season as well.

They're growing as a team. They're stepping up when they need to. They have four more in a row here at home. And, with Jeremy back and a team that is coming into its full potential, there's seemingly no stopping the Cougars. They've been shaken up. They're ready to go.
