Temperatures reached the 60s and the weather finally started to wane toward springtime norms this weekend. It was the perfect temperature to relax and enjoy nachos, boiled peanuts and, of course, the beginning of baseball season.

The College of Charleston sailing team competed in three events Feb. 20-21 and came away with third place at the Charleston Spring Intersectional, seventh at the USF Women’s Intersectional and a win at the SAISA Open.

The College of Charleston men’s basketball team will travel to Fairfax, Va., to take on George Mason of the Colonial Athletic Association in the ESPN BracketBuster game Feb. 20 at the Patriot Center. The game will air at 8 p.m. on ESPN2.

The softball team opened its home season earlier than expected.
The Cougars were supposed to open the season at South Carolina in the Palmetto State Showdown last weekend, but the winter weather canceled the event.

Seniors Tony White, Jr. and Casaan Breeden will be recognized tonight. The College is 11-1 at home. They will take on North Division leaders, Appalachian State as they close out the home season.

Men’s tennis kicked off the spring season Jan. 23 with strong performances at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. The Cougars picked up three wins against players from nationally ranked teams Indiana and Harvard. 

The Cougars (16-9, 11-3), coming off Monday's loss to the Citadel, look to redeem themselves, hosting the 6-17, 4-8 Phoenix at Carolina First Arena.

After dominating the Georgia Southern Eagles in Statesboro, S.C., the Cougars begin a five-game home streak at the Carolina First Arena starting with Chattanooga Feb. 4 at 7 p.m., followed by Samford Feb. 6 at 4 p.m., The Citadel Feb. 8 at 7 p.m., Elon Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. and Appalachian State Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.

 It was Matt Sundberg’s night for the Charleston Cougars as he scored a career-high 17 points to give Charleston an 86-74 victory over the Chattanooga Mocs on Thursday.

Expectations were high for the College of Charleston Cougars as they came into tonight’s game at Carolina First Arena. The Cougars were undefeated at home and in the Southern Conference coming into the game.
