When the College of Charleston Foundation announced plans to purchase the McLeod Plantation in September 2009, the debate on the student side was limited at best.  After it was released that the transaction would be done with private funds, the vast majority of students ranged from indifferent to excited about the acquisition, which would not increase their tuition a cent but would double the College’s current campus size.

For 30 years the Honors College and its scholars have contributed to the C of C community, and as they pass this milestone they look forward to growing and expanding.

Called an “oasis for contemporary art in historic Charleston” and under development since 1993 C of C has reached a new landmark with the grand reopening of the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art.

The computer scientists that use digital special effects to make this movie magic didn’t wake up one day knowing how to create impossible images. The path to creating the impossible on screen starts with education, and for one computer scientist, his path started at the College of Charleston.

C of C men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each suffered defeats to Old Dominion (1-0) as the men (0-1) fell 184-94 and the women (1-1) dropped a 185-106 decision Saturday afternoon in Norfolk, Va.

Junior setter Cole Dawley, from Charleston, S.C., had an impressive overall performance with 33 assists, six kills and seven digs and sophomore middle blocker Sarah Havel, from Carmel, Ind., drilled 11 kills as the College of Charleston (9-10, 5-2) downed Chattanooga (10-9, 2-5) 3-0 Saturday afternoon in a Southern Conference match in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Cougars claimed the victory by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-23.
