SGA appoints its third vice president

After former SGA Vice President Corey Maran announced last semester that he would graduate in December, the organization lost its vice president for the second time. Maran had originally taken over for Alex Henderson who resigned back in September. While there was a vacancy in the position over break, SGA just appointed Erich Hellstrom last Tuesday.

Hellstrom joined SGA his sophomore year and was the chairman of the Advocacy Committee for Diversity on Campus his junior year. However, Hellstrom did not initially seek office his senior year, because he participated in a student exchange program with the University of Montana last semester. He’s now back at the College and ready to take on the position of SGA vice president.

While senators said they were sad to see Maran leave, Nathan Wills, who presented the appointment bill, said “If anyone could replace [Maran], it would be Erich.” Hellstrom was appointed to the position with a motion for unanimous proclamation.

Hellstrom said his goal this semester is to “help run [Senate] as smooth as possible.” He also said he has high hopes for the organization. “I’m expecting a good semester for SGA,” Hellstrom said. “I think we have more potential, as a group, than any other SGA delegation that I’ve been a part of.”

Erich is a beautiful person, inside and out. Best VP of the decade?
