Charleston volleyball’s Sunday victory marks third straight

The Cougars hosted two conference games this weekend against Delaware and Towson. With victories over both conference opponents, Charleston now owns a three game winning streak and a share of first place in the CAA.

In Charleston’s match against Delaware, the Cougars won with a clean sweep 3-0. Standouts from the match were both Maddie Hills who contributed with 15 kills, and Devon Rachel who brought in additional 10 kills.

Charleston was able to dominate Delaware by winning the battle in kills. The Cougars had 48 kills to Delaware’s 33.

The match Sunday against Towson was another dominant one for the Cougars.  As Charleston won the match quite easily winning 3-1.

Rachel played a huge role in the Cougars win with 20 kills, two aces, and four blocks. Rachel recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 20 kills and 13 digs.

The victory gave the Cougars a 15-7 overall record and 8-2 in conference play. The win brings the Cougars into a first place tie in the Colonial Athletic Association with Northeastern.

Charleston has a chance to take control in the CAA in the next match, when the Cougars hit the road to take on Northeastern on Friday Oct. 28.
