Usually, CisternYard News uploads each of our magazine articles to our website in the days following distribution. Due to some concerns voiced by an interviewee regarding accuracy and sensitive subject matter, we will not be publishing Asexuality is a Sexuality. The article was originally published in Vo. 5 Issue 3 of The Yard. Instead, we would like to draw your attention to the following corrections and clarifications:
- In the fifth paragraph it states “The Belly Dance Troupe consists primarily of students that identify someplace along the asexual spectrum, and most asexual students can name at least five other students that identify as asexual.” These are both generalizations that the author drew according to multiple interviews. It would be wrong to assume that these conclusions came solely from Laura Cergol or Breeanna Lewis, the individuals quoted later in that paragraph.
- In the fifth paragraph it states “Asexual students cluster together to spend their weekend with friends, playing board games and eating junk food, unaffected by the hypersexual college campus surrounding them.” Again, this conclusion was drawn by the author based on conversations with multiple other asexual individuals who are not quoted directly in the article. It would be wrong to assume that this quote is attributed to Laura Cergol or Breeanna Lewis.
- In the seventh paragraph it states “The asexual community, including Cole Sprouse, reacted in opposition to Jughead’s out of character heterosexual relationship.” The syntax of this sentence mistakenly implies that Cole Sprouse identifies as asexual. A more accurate sentence would read “Cole Sprouse, in addition to the asexual community, reacted in opposition to Jughead’s out of character heterosexual relationship.”
