Airport Dining

Hunger settles in the second you reach your gate, 30 minutes before your flight boards. The question of where to go for fast, yummy food instantly comes to mind. If you have a craving for coffee and sweets, then you’re in luck because the Charleston International Airport has two delicious cafes. Located in the central marketplace, they have a variety of items to hold you over throughout a long flight.

Harvest and Grounds has many different coffee beverages for a pick-me-up or some nice refreshing teas. On an appealing display, they have cookies, cakes and other pastries; sandwiches, yogurt and fruits are also available for a healthier option. My favorite from their menu is a hot, foamy cappuccino that warms you right up, paired with a crunchy oatmeal raisin cookie.

The second place to check out is Caviar and Bananas. This cafe has a large selection of artisanal coffees and teas, plus an organic fruit smoothie. The list of food options is endless here. It is hard not to find something tasty; take your pick of baked goods, sandwiches and salads. For those with a sweet tooth, try the featured mint chocolate chip cookie. It is soft, sweet and tastes just like mint chocolate chip ice cream, but in the shape of a large sized cookie. For a light and refreshing drink to pair with this sugary treat, try an iced black tea.

Whether you are coming or going, these cafes are great for something hot, sweet and on-the-go.
