Women’s Basketball Struggles Against Michigan State

Upon her return to her alma mater on Sunday afternoon, head coach Candice Jackson didn’t have the pleasure of escaping with a victory against the Michigan State Spartans. The Cougars would lose to the Spartans 107-43.

The College of Charleston women’s basketball team dropped to 1-3.

The Cougars were playing from behind from the start –with the Spartans ahead of the Cougars 23-11 after the first quarter.

The rest was history, as Charleston tried to scratch and claw their way back all afternoon long.

Leading the way for the College and Charleston, Deja Ford and Bri Boyd lead the way in scoring, each pouring in eight points of their own.

The Spartans secured the W by dominating the glass all day long, fighting off the College of Charleston’s best efforts time and time again.

Michigan State totaled 57 boards on the day, a glaring stat next to Charleston’s 24.

The Cougars have no place to go but up following this performance, so expect them to come out guns blazing on Wednesday, as they look to bounce back against Campbell at TD Arena.
