The College of Charleston women’s basketball team lost to James Madison 67-45 despite a valiant effort from the Cougars.
By the end of the first quarter, the Cougars accounted for seven turnovers and trailed the Dukes by 11. Half-time was not much different for Charleston as James Madison pushed their lead to 19.
Despite the loss, Deja Ford played well leading the Cougars in scoring with thirteen points. In addition, Cailin Dorsey went three 0f six from long range and scored a career-high eleven points.
While Charleston gave a strong effort, JMU ousted Charleston in rebounding, shooting percentage and bench points among other important statistical categories.
The Dukes outrebounded the College of Charleston 48-40, shot 37.5% from the field and netted 32 points from their bench. The Cougars, meanwhile, shot 28.3% from the field and did not account for any points off their bench.
The Cougars face the Townson Tigers for the College of Charleston Women’s Basketball Alumni game this Sunday at TD Arena at 2 PM.
