The following is a letter to College of Charleston Students from SGA President, Tripp Keeffe
Hello CofC Students,
This Tripp Keeffe, President of College of Charleston’s SGA writing another update following the Senate Session on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
This week’s session was very exciting. First, a student petitioned for resources from the student outreach fund, geared towards helping students attend events which can help the campus community.
Next, I gave my weekly President’s report. I announced the successful completion of the Preferred Name Project. The project allows students to send and receive correspondence on MyCharleston and g.cofc.edu email addresses using their preferred names instead of official names. Specific instructions on beginning the process of using a preferred name on these sites are enclosed in an email sent to all students from Provost Dr. Brian McGee.
Following my report, Dr. Alicia Caudill, The College’s Executive Vice President of Student Affairs explained CofC’s organizational structure. Check out the livestream on the College of Charleston SGA Facebook page if you are interested in viewing Dr. Caudill’s presentation or any other Senate Session details.
After new SGA members were sworn in, the Senate passed many resolutions. Student Government supported establishing an engineering degree program, implementing incentives for professors to use open source textbooks which will reduce textbook costs. The Senate also passed a resolution expressing University of South Carolina agencies for their assistance in evacuating College of Charleston students.
Our Sept. 25 meeting was very productive. To stay up to date on all events the Student Government Association make sure to follow us on our social media pages.
Have a great week cougars!
