On Sept. 25, College of Charleston athletics named Kevin Jewett as the new Sailing Director. This came after the departure of Greg Fisher who served as Sailing Director at The College for eight years. He left over the summer to join the U.S. Olympic sailing team as the Chief Operations Officer.
Prior to Jewett’s appointment to director, he was the co-owner of Sea & Caye LLC, which offered services to the sailing industry. From coaching to consulting and everything in between Jewett has done it.
Additionally, Jewett was part of a team that raised more than $3.5 million to build a state-of-the-art sailing center. Matt Roberts, Athletics Director at The College stated, “We are excited to add Kevin to the College of Charleston Family,” he continues, “[Jewett] brings a wealth of experience to our nationally-renowned sailing program. We look forward to continued success and growth under Kevin’s leadership.” Reported by College of Charleston Athletics.
Jewett plans on continuing Fishers legacy. He stated, “I’m honored to have this opportunity,” and added, “The collegiate sailing tradition that has been built for over 50 years here is simply amazing. Our team is stronger than ever… Greg [Fisher] has done an amazing job and will be missed. I’m looking forward to carrying on his fine work and continuing a culture of success.”
