Brunch is something of a sacred tradition in Charleston. When you speak of it there is a near-unanimous recognition of its wonders. Entire Instagram pages are dedicated to colorful meals of waffles, bacon, sunny-side up eggs and avocado toast. Meals are so grand they inspire some to stand on their chair in the middle of a busy restaurant just to get that perfect aerial shot. I have witnessed this — more than once.
With that being said, the Charleston brunch scene will be full-tilt this weekend in Park Circle. The first ever Charleston Brunch Festival will take place this upcoming Saturday and Sunday.
The festival will feature various food vendors serving tasty delights ranging from hearty biscuits n’ gravy to lighter fare like Nutella crepes. While there’s no set menu it seems likely that there will be something to satisfy the taste buds of even the stingiest brunch-goers.
Coffee will be served for you morning caffeine cravings as well as kombucha. For those who are 21+ there will be a diverse selection of drinks including a mimosa and bloody-mary bar. The festival highly advises people to buy drink tickets online beforehand as the most affordable option.
Live music and backyard games are also advertised including Giant Jenga and cornhole. “Jump castles galore” was also mentioned, and while I am not sure if these are for adults, I’m optimistic. On a final note there is supposed to be “bacon disco(?)” which raises almost as much excitement as it does questions.
With free admission and free parking this is an affordable option to relax in the park and eat a breakfast taco or two. I encourage you, come one, come all, to a festival of entertainment and stomach-filling wonderment: brunch!
