While City Bistro is under renovation, The College has invited a food truck popup to take place between Lightsey and New Student Programs. Tucked in the courtyard behind the bookstore you will find Root Note food truck operating on Nov. 27 and 29 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Root Note serves tacos and rice bowls that combine southern comfort food with both southeast Asian and Indian cuisine.
The Pho Q tacos get their name from the pho-inspired chimichurri that bleeds the dark green hue of thai basil through the smoked pork and sweet pickles below it. Thinly shaved cabbage provides a light, refreshing crisp accompanied by sweet pickles that cut through the fat and smokiness of the pork, bringing the flavors full circle as you go in for another bite.
Another southeast Asian inspired dish, the Curry Chicken rice bowl delivered optimal levels of that hug-in-a-bowl feeling you get from comfort food. The rich coconut cream makes the bowl hearty, but Root Note adds fresh cabbage and pickled onions to balance it out. The chicken is fall-apart tender and the rice is cooked to perfection. With a fairly mellow curry flavor; this is a great dish to introduce new flavors to diners who would otherwise not eat curry.
While on campus, Root Note will be accepting cash, credit and meal swipes. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to try
something new, support a local business and get a tasty taco!
While Root Note will only be at College of Charleston a couple more times before the semester ends, be sure to follow them on social media to see where they are popping up next!
