Senate Session Summary for the week of 1/22/2019

The following is a letter written to the Campus Community from SGA President Tripp Keeffe on Senate Sessions

Dear Campus Community,

The second Senate session passed smoothly.  The Senate granted the academic team’s contingency request to send four of its members to the University of Florida for a competition. Following the vote, Rachel Holley ’21 was sworn into the Senate today. Senator Holley desired  to join student government to help bring more unity to campus. Additionally, she pursued an opportunity in the Senate as an avenue to look more closely at collegiate politics.

Lastly, the Senate passed a resolution to show student support for the crafting and circulation of a 250th anniversary commemorative postage stamp.  The resolution intends to outline student support for the stamp, which may help our stamp compete against the thousands of other proposals, the postal system receives. To take a closer look at the senate session of today,  refer to the live stream recording on the student government association Facebook page. Have a great week cougars!
