After a greeting of golden balloons and music pulsating through human-sized speakers, it’s no secret that this year’s pep rally was one to remember. A smiling Johnsie, one of Liberty’s most enthusiastic dining hall employees checked in students while waving one of the numerous pom-poms scattered across the hall.
Johnsie was not the only smiling representative present in the Fresh Food Company that night though. Volunteers from the College of Charleston’s Dining Services manned a table boasting a large prize (a Hubert’s Lemonade skateboard) for the student who could guess the quantity of basketball chocolates housed in the glass case. Free tumblers and cell phone sleeves carpeted the table as well.
Just a few steps over was a table full of Coca-Cola products, including Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, Powerade Zero, Fairlife milk, and more. Representatives from the Coca-Cola Company offered a free raffle ticket to anyone willing to try one of the numerous products on display . Raffle winners could claim a Hubert’s Lemonade skateboard or choice of a free t-shirt.
In addition, the food stations also featured special menus. Fried mac and cheese bites, barbeque ribs, Italian sausage and basketball cookies designed to hype attendees up for the Cougars next game highlighted the events’ featured dishes.
Moreover, DJ Scrib blasted party music from gigantic speakers, turning our pretty standard dining hall into a highly spirited venue with students dancing across the newly christened Liberty dance floor.
Oh, and did I mention there was also giant Jenga. And cornhole. Really, what more could you need?
