On Wed. Sept. 11 former “Southern Charm” tv star Thomas Ravenel pleaded guilty to and was convicted of third degree assault and battery against one of his previously hired nannies; an event that happened back in Jan. of 2015.
Ravenel was given a plea deal that he pay a $500 fine, with a suspension of the 30 day prison sentence, and will not spend any time behind bars.
Ravenel claims that the nanny’s story about what happened that night in January was not completely true, despite the photographs of her injured body after the assault showing multiple bruises and cuts.
According to Charleston Detective Christopher Malinowski’s statement, “the photographs were not clear enough to show the injuries.”
There was also a civil settlement between the nanny and Ravenel where instead of paying the nanny for her injuries, Ravenel is to donate $80,000 to People Against Rape in her name.
Thomas Ravenel has had previous convictions including 10 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and a DUI.
